Approachability
Building an emotional connection with people through friendly, accessible communication.
Good Guys is an animal care and wellness brand that brings veterinary services and pet products together under a warm, fresh, and recognizable identity. The project builds a brand that connects emotionally, standing out in a category where trust, care, and the bond with animals are essential.
Challenge
Good Guys needed to bring its veterinary services and product offering together under a cohesive identity that could work across different touchpoints and adapt to new categories and species. The challenge was to build a distinctive visual language without limiting the brand to a single species or business category.
Concept
Good Guys’ strategic direction needed to address a fundamental need: creating a recognizable brand for today, with enough flexibility to support its evolution over time.
Brand Principles
Approachability
Building an emotional connection with people through friendly, accessible communication.
Personality
Standing out through a distinctive visual identity with character, avoiding a generic look and feel.
Versatility
Creating a system that works across different media, formats, and touchpoints.
Scalability
Allowing the brand to expand into new species, products, and services without losing consistency.
Solution
The solution was to build an identity around the brand itself rather than a specific species. Instead of using a symbol directly associated with dogs or cats, we developed a primarily typographic visual language that could remain relevant as Good Guys evolved.
Digital Experience
The digital experience extends the brand’s visual world. The goal is to translate its personality into an environment where people can discover products, explore services, and connect with what Good Guys has to offer.
Defining the experience before designing its look and feel. Wireframes allowed us to focus first on structure, information hierarchy, and key navigation flows, without visual styling influencing product decisions.
The online store was designed to bring the brand’s personality into the shopping experience. Rather than building a generic e-commerce platform, we used Good Guys’ visual language to create a more expressive and approachable experience, giving the products as much prominence as the brand itself.
Design System
As the experience grew, it needed a shared foundation to ensure that each screen didn't solve the same problems in different ways.
Learnings
Good Guys was an opportunity to explore how a visual identity can build a recognizable personality while meeting the needs of a business with multiple product and service lines.
The decision to create an expressive, flexible typographic identity reflects that intention: building a foundation that can support Good Guys beyond its initial applications.
